Client: Technip

Year Complete: 2014

Project Details:

2 x 30,000m3 Single Containment Steel/Steel LNG tanks.

Primary components include:

  • Outer tank – low temperature carbon steel
  • Inner tank – stainless steel

Whessoe’s Scope:

Detailed Engineering, Construction Supervision

Whessoe carried out the basic and detailed engineering of two 30,000m3 LNG tanks up to a 5m battery limit. The scope of work included main piping systems, spill collection system, fire protection systems and main structural elements. Foundations were designed by the Client.

This was a fast track project with all the design and engineering being completed in nine months. Early works started in late December 2012 and were completed in early September 2013.

The tanks were designed to API 620 however Chinese codes were used for material specification to allow the Client to purchase locally produced materials.   Process safety was designed using NFPA 59A codes.

The outer tank was constructed from locally produced carbon steel with the inner tank being constructed of stainless steel.

The tanks are currently being erected and Whessoe have provided a construction advisor.
